Triton®2 EVS: The event-based camera for industrial applications

The Triton®2 EVS camera is revolutionizing machine vision with its ability to operate over 10,000 fps time resolution equivalent and an impressive 120 dB dynamic range. Instead of individual images, event-based pixels continuously record the incident light and only generate a signal when the light level changes.

The Triton®2 EVS camera offers two sensor options: 0,9 MP with 1280 x 720 pixels (IMX636) und 0,3 MP with 640 x 512 pixels (IMX637). This camera has been extensively tested for robustness against shocks, vibrations, water, dust, temperature and electromagnetic interference. It is also lightweight, compact and can be upgraded to IP67.

What is an event-driven camera?

The Triton2 EVS uses an event-based vision sensor that continuously detects the incident light and only sends a signal when the light level changes. Instead of conventional single images, the sensor reacts to changes in light without a shutter and reports these in the form of ON or OFF events when certain intensity values are exceeded. This innovative technology is the result of a collaboration between Sony and Prophesee, combining Sony's CMOS image sensor technology with Prophesee's unique event-based Metavision® technology.

Outstanding features of the Triton2 EVS

"These powerful SWIR image sensors in the Triton2 camera deliver precision and fulfill various requirements in industrial inspection, identification and measurement applications and increase productivity," explains Rod Barman, President of LUCID Vision Labs. "With its small pixel size of 3.45 μm, the camera offers high resolution in a compact package. In addition, the noise reduction mode can be activated to capture vivid and detailed images of even tiny objects."
 

The 2.5GBASE-T Triton2 supports fast data transfer rates of up to 300 MB per second and is compatible with standard CAT5e and CAT6 cables up to 100 meters in length. All LUCID cameras comply with GigE Vision 2.0 and GenICam3 standards and are supported by the company's own Arena Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK provides customers with a user-friendly interface to the latest industry standards and supports Windows, Linux 64-bit and Linux ARM operating systems as well as C, C++, C# and Python programming languages.

Low-light capability

Thanks to a sensitivity of just 0.08 lx, even the darkest scenes can be illuminated. This camera allows you to capture events in almost no light.

Water and dust protection

With an IP67-certified lens barrel and attached cables, the Triton2 EVS is protected against the ingress of dust and water and can be used underwater at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

Robust interface

The M12 2.5GigE PoE connection provides a secure and reliable connection that enables data transmission and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) via a single cable, making installation and maintenance easier.

Active sensor adjustment

During manufacture, all units are actively aligned to minimize the tilt and rotation of the sensor so that the center of the image sensor is precisely aligned with the optical axis of the lens.

Robustness against shocks and vibrations

The camera has undergone extensive testing against physical shocks and vibrations to ensure its reliability in industrial environments.

EMC immunity

The Triton2 EVS is immune to voltage fluctuations, electrostatic discharges and strong magnetic fields, making it ideal for industrial applications.
