A PCB (Printed Circuit Board) serves as a carrier for electronic components, their mechanical fastening or connection. The individual components of such PCBs are becoming ever more complex, production speeds ever higher. Nevertheless, each component must be inspected before final assembly to ensure perfect product quality. Optical inspection plays a decisive role alongside other inspection processes. Quality requirements are in the micrometer range and require fast, high-resolution cameras. Challenges also exist in the inspection and measurement of low-contrast or reflective objects, as well as the high process speeds.
